Growing the forests our future demands.

We bring together the people, the land and the investment to grow native forests across Aotearoa New Zealand — building ecological outcomes that last for generations.

Regenerating native forest is at the heart of everything we do.

We work in long-term partnership with landholders across Aotearoa, co-designing projects around local knowledge and the long-term goals of each landscape. The ecological outcomes those projects deliver are independently verified and generate high-integrity carbon credits.

The land is calling.
We’re answering.

A changing climate and biodiversity loss demand action at scale. Scale requires serious investment. Investment requires certainty.

True Nature is rooted in 35 years of land restoration experience, strong partnerships with landholders, communities and nurseries, and a national network of ecologists who understand the right tree, right place, right time for every landscape.

Our reforestation programme is grounded in rigorous science, established methodologies and deep local knowledge. Every project is designed to meet the Core Carbon Principles — the highest international standard for voluntary carbon market integrity — and deliver independently verified climate, community and biodiversity outcomes.

Nature-based carbon credits

Each credit represents a specific, measurable outcome from a real project in Aotearoa New Zealand — independently verified, with co-benefits beyond carbon.

for businesses

Each reforestation and revegation project delivers verified outcomes beyond carbon: biodiversity recovery, habitat restoration, improved soil and water health, strengthened community connection through active kaitiakitanga, and improved ecological resilience.

for businesses

We rigorously track growth rates, ecological health, and community outcomes at every site so businesses can see exactly what their investment is doing on the ground, year on year.

For landholders

Working collaboratively with landholders, we co-design each project to reflect local knowledge and long-term landscape goals.

for landholders

Our grouped project structure means landholders with any size parcel of land can join at any time, gaining access to international voluntary carbon market without the cost and complexity of managing credit verification independently.

Restoration you can stand behind

Your investment drives native forest restoration across Aotearoa, regenerating biodiversity and delivering climate and community benefits that last for generations.

Independently-verified carbon credits give your business confidence in the quality and integrity of your climate investment as you offset hard-to-abate emissions work toward net zero goals.

For Landholders

A pathway to restore the whenua

Our grouped project structure makes participation accessible regardless of land size. We cover all project design, validation and verification costs, and work with you to develop long-term plans tailored to your whenua.

In return, your land becomes part of a nationwide effort to grow thriving native forests and ecological outcomes that will outlast us all.

Grown from 35 years of restoration expertise.

True Nature builds on the legacy of Trees That Count and Project Crimson, organisations with decades of proven success restoring native forests alongside landholders, iwi, hapū and communities.

While Trees That Count continues its vital work with individuals and small-to-medium businesses, True Nature takes the next step: investment-scale partnerships, built on our foundation of existing relationships, ecological expertise and decades of learning.

Our shared kaupapa weaves through it all — from the first tree in the ground to the forest that follows, from individual action to ecosystem restoration.
